Skiing in West Virginia

Glade Springs Hotel & Conference Center in Daniels has just completed a $10 million expansion with an addition of 51 guest rooms and suites, 3,500 feet of ballroom space and a new lobby with gift shops. A sports bar with outside decking overlooking the 18th hole is scheduled for completion in the spring. 1-800-634-5233.

The Hatfield-McCoy Trails in Lyburn, the place dubbed “Trails Heaven” continues to expand with more trail openings and length extensions in 2006 for ATVs, mountain biking, horseback riding and hiking. There are more than 500 miles of trails in the system with multiple trailheads. User permits are required and may be purchased through the web site. 1-800-592-2217.

Canaan Valley Resort and Conference Center in Davis has scheduled new summer outdoor activities and opened new recreation areas for both children and adults. A new downhill ski feature is scheduled to open in February. Also new: air boards. 1-800-622-4121 or 304/866-4121.
